Scoutmaster’s Minute
Welcome to the start of an exciting new Scout year. This year will surely be full of many new adventures and experiences for all of our scouts and many opportunities for our scouts and families alike. There are a number of changes and new initiatives coming to the troop this year. I hope you'll take the time to read through this newsletter and maybe post it to your refrigerator or bulletin board for easy reference. I hope you will all mark your calendars for our kick-off campfire (details on the back). If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to any of the Assistant Scoutmasters or myself. Let's make this the best year yet for Troop 77!

Changes in Dues
Annual dues of $40 should be paid each September. Dues will be collected by Scoutmasters and
may be paid in cash, check (made out to “Boy Scout Troop 77”), or credit card. (Dues will not be
collected weekly as in the past. Dues help defer costs of annual scout registration, troop
supplies, and trips.)

Camping & Trips
All camping trips carry a fee of $20/person. Money and sign-up is due at the start of the meeting
two Thursdays before departure. In most cases, this is eight days before the event. Day trips have
the same sign-up schedule, but fees will be based on the cost of the event.

Medical Forms
All troop events other than weekly meetings at Bethany require BSA Medical form Part A & B to
be on file with the troop. Part C is also required for any trip lasting longer than 72 hours (such as
summer camp). Forms are available online by searching for BSA medical form on Scouting.org.

20-22 - RV District Fall Camporee
“Baconfest and the Defense of Mafeking” Cost = $20

November
3-4 - Intro to Backpacking in
Harriman State Park for experienced campers. Cost = $20
(All other scouts may join on the 4th for a hike)
9 - Shotgun Shooting at Thunder
Mountain (Meet at Bethany at
6:30 pm)

December
14 - Court of Honor Christmas Party
